Situated
about 70 air miles south east of Thompson is in the heart of
Mystery Country, A thirty five minute float plane ride is
all that separates you from a lake that is teeming with
fish! Covering over thirteen miles in length and up to three
and a half wide with depths in the thirty foot plus range.
The main lake has a river that connects to another lake that
is nine miles in length as well as two other a joining lakes
above and below Dafoe lake. This offers the diehard
fisherman the opportunity to explore to his or her content.
The many reefs and islands that dot the landscape offer
numerous opportunities to hook onto a Monster Northern or
feisty Walleye! Or maybe a perch or whitefish dinner is at
hand. Try fly fishing for a northern in one of the many bays
that are part of the endless shoreline.
The cabin is spacious and clean. The modern conviences of
hot and cold running water as well as a hot shower are a
welcome relief after a hard day on the water. Propane
lights, fridge, stove and satellite phone, along with
kitchen ware compliment the rest of the amenities. With the
addition of a 12 by 28 foot deck across the front of the
cabin and the addition of a gas grill as well as an extra
fridge for their adult refreshments, most of our guests tell
us they think they Died and went to Heaven!
Dafoe cabin sits on an island about half way up or down the
lake. This gives the larger groups of eight or ten the
opportunity to split up and then meet back at camp for their
mid day lunch. The days in June/July are the longest, with
daylight lasting up to 20 hours.
2003 saw the addition of new Yamaha 15 HP. Four stroke
motors to compliment the 16 foot Lund boats that were added
in 2002. Planned for 2004 is the completion of swivel seats
and a fish cleaning shed with a fresh water hand pump for
making shore lunch a breeze. |
